Talks and Presentations

Our aim is to promote the benefits and welfare of bees by visiting schools, groups, institutions, etc to give talks and educate children and adults alike on the fascinating life of bees, the vital role they play in our lives, and what we can do to help honey bees and other pollinators survive in our modern world.

We offer three types of talks to groups within a 20-mile radius of Guildford and Woking:

  • Talks to Not for Profit Youth Groups e.g. Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Scouts, Explorers and State Schools. This presentation will be age appropriate and last 30 – 45 minutes. If requested, bee related craft activities and honey tasting can be provided. A charge will be made to cover the speakers travel cost (45p/mile), and for any craft materials, but the talk itself will be free!   Please contact us for more information.

  • Talks to Small Groups, e.g. Gardening Clubs, WIs, and Wildlife groups. This presentation and Q&A session will last about an hour and include honey tasting and the opportunity for your members to buy local honey and bee related products. We ask for a minimum donation of £45 (payable at the time of booking) and speakers travel cost at 45p/mile. Please contact us for more information.

  • Talks to Corporate Groups We can offer a bespoke presentation to suit your audience, including honey tasting and the opportunity for delegates to buy local honey and bee related products. Price on application, payable at the time of booking and speakers travel cost at 45p/mile. Please contact us for more information. You might also be interested in our ‘Meet the Bees Corporate’ sessions.

Please note: It is unlikely that we will be able to bring live bees to the talks, but individuals and groups are welcome to join one of our ‘Meet the Bees’ sessions at our Apiary near RHS Wisley.

Our Gold ‘Adopt a Hive’ product also includes an invitation for one person to ‘Meet the Bees’.

Filming, Recording and Photographing of Talks

Schools and educational groups are welcome to record short sections of our talks on media devices and cameras provided it is for use within that organisation only and credit is given to Surrey Bees CIO for the material used. Filming of larger sections (more than 15 minutes) and whole talks is not permitted and may only be carried out with full written permission of the trustees who can be contacted at surreybeestrustees@outlook.com

Photographs may be taken for publicity purposes only. Please refer to your groups safeguarding policy for information on the photographing of children and individuals. In most cases consent will be required from individuals and/or their parents.
